MB Sign Up roster for Camp Chawanakee and Pre-Reqs

posted Jun 8, 2016, 10:24 AM by Troop223 Admin   [ updated Jun 9, 2016, 11:26 AM ]

MB Sign Up roster for Camp Chawanakee this summer & the corresponding list of MB Pre-requisites.

Here is an example of how you would use this information.

I open the file with "Sign-ups" in the title and find my son, Luke Cameron with his MB sign ups to identify which MBs he is signed up for at Chawanakee. (Good cross check to expectations.)

It should look something like this:

Luke Cameron

Period 1 Period 2

    Citizenship in the World

Period 3

Period 4

    Environmental Science

Next, one should open the second file to see if there are any pre-reqs for any of your son's MBs:

For example, for Communications MB, I find the following pre-reqs:

Plan a troop or crew court of honor, campfire program, or interfaith worship service. Have the patrol leaders' council approve it, then write the script and prepare the program. Serve as master of ceremonies.

Happy New Year & we are off and running! IMPORTANT Date Change for January Campout

posted Jan 5, 2016, 5:30 PM by Troop223 Admin   [ updated Jan 5, 2016, 5:40 PM ]

Greetings to the families of Troop 223 & Happy New Year.

My hope and prayers are that each and every one of you had a marvelous Christmas & New Year's celebration, enjoying the break from our Scouting routine.

We have our first Troop Meeting of the year this Tuesday (1/5/16). I trust that all of our Scouts will receive PHONE CALLS from their Patrol Leaders with the list or reminders. As previously mentioned, I am open to our scouts supplementing phone calls with email/text, but not replacing the phone call.

I have an IMPORTANT date change regarding the January camp out to Coyote Lake. The camp out reservations for our January outing have us departing Friday (1/22/16) and returning on Sunday (1/24/16). This is one week later than what is listed under January in the Scout's binder calendar for January. My apology for any challenges this may cause anyone.

To be honest, the adult leadership is actually a little relieved to have one  more week to work with the Scout leadership to prepare for a successful camp out.

Nonetheless, please engage with your Scout and help him confirm he can attend this fun January outing. The Scouts are encouraged to come with Permission Slips and $10 for Patrol Food.

Headlights for what's coming down the road this year include the Klondike Derby in February (Snow camping at Shaver 2/19/16). The other item to prepare for is the first payment for Camp Chawanakee. More on this forthcoming from the Committee Chairman.

How you can help the "old" Scout Master: (1) Please help your scout to confirm or pickup the 2016 binder insert; (2) Please ensure your Scout has turned in all the paper work that was due in the 4th quarter to the Committee Chair/Admin team (not the Scout Master).

I am looking forward to a great year of Scouting with Troop 223.

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. "C".
